Do you see the beauty that surrounds you? Do you count among your many blessings that you can see? Because Scotty has been blind since birth, he does not compare himself to others. Nor does he judge others by their looks, as is so often the case in our society. Scotty is one of the happiest people you could ever meet, notwithstanding his many handicaps. Scotty truly lives "in the moment" while sending out love that is truly unconditional. Scotty is one of Dave Carpenter's Divine Grand Masters. Day by day he is helping Dave to better understand and appreciate the wonders of the world. Although Scotty is certainly unique, he is not the only blind person in the world. It is estimated that there are more than ten million blind people in the world. 10% of these people have been blind since birth! The Photo Contest on this site honors the blind. Every month we select a winning photograph in our Contest "The Beauty that Surrounds Us." The winning photographer not only wins a prize for himself (or herself) but also gets to choose a charity for the blind to which the site makes a donation in the winners name. Of course, you yourself can help the blind in many ways. You could just be more kindly to the next blind person you see. You could volunteer to do some reading for the blind. Or you could make a contribution to one of the organizations dedicated to helping the blind. Such organizations include:
